Autonomous robots perform functions in our daily lives in almost every sector including commercial, medical, and military applications. Each of these applications requires a comprehensive understanding of motion control design including position sensing and orientation, movement, and system safety. Robotic design applications often require many of the technical disciplines in electronic product development such as embedded designs, wireless communications, motor drive, optical sensors, cables, thermal mitigation, and power supplies.
Robotic Engineering Disciplines
Tri-Star Design provides a full suite of electrical, mechanical and software services for controlling robots in various autonomous applications. Our firmware provides real-time control of robot motor drives, laser drivers, battery charging, power control, and control loops for actuators and arms.
A number of our clients come to us during the initial concept phase of the project requesting a proof-of-concept device where we prove out the primary functionality of the product utilizing off-the-shelf technology. Upon successful completion of this phase, the development team moves into the product development phase where a more cost-effective custom solution is developed. Our team has extensive experience designing electronics with very tight area constraints where thermal mitigation and cable bend radius issues are often found.
Our engineers have contributed to the technology of robotic design and development of a variety of robotics systems including robots for warehouse automation, medical applications, and semiconductor wafer handling facilities. Oftentimes in support of the product, the application requires an external system level development in order to support safety, communication, battery charging and package handling.
